John Lehenbauer grew up in rural Northwest Ohio, the third of seven children of Lutheran Pastor, Paul Lehenbauer and wife, Victoria, and a son of Peace Lutheran congregation, Deshler, Ohio.
He attended the University of Toledo from 1976-78, and Concordia University-Nebraska from 1978-80. graduating from the latter. It was at Concordia University, that John met Renee Geiger from Memphis, Tennessee. They wed in 1981. Both John and Renee served as Lutheran School teachers in the Washington, D.C. are from 1980-1982. In the Fall of 1982, John enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, graduating in 1986.
He served as the Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cloquet, Minnesota from 1986 to 1996, as the pastor of Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Shepherdsville, Kentucky from 1996 to 2009. and has been at Christ Lutheran since July 2009.
John and Renee are blessed with seven children: Rebecca (Ted) Weiss of Michigan, Aaron Lehenbauer (Louisville), Bethany (Tom) Hayes of Louisville; Miriam of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Hannah of Concordia University — Wisconsin, Ruth, and Micah. They also have three grandchildren.
Renee is an Elementary School Teacher, who has blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home Mom for most of the years our children have been at home. She has also homeschooled a number of years, plays the piano, enjoys crafts, likes to read, and cans numerous fruits, garden vegetables, jams and jellies.
In his free time, John pretends he knows how to still play soccer in the adult league at Central Georgia Soccer Association. For the past five years, he has also made an annual trip to assist Children of Love in La Paz, Honduras, where he has been able to teach and share Christ in Spanish.
The Lehenbauers greatly enjoy life in Middle Georgia, as well as the wonderful people of Christ Lutheran and the communities of Perry, Kathleen, and Warner Robins.
